Santa Fe, New Mexico, the
second oldest city in the U.S., is situated at 7,000 feet in
the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains surrounded by
what remains of a 2,000-year-old Pueblo civilization. Santa
Fe's rich and colorful past is preserved in centuries-old
adobe structures and European-style churches throughout the
city. From its famous Plaza (laid in 1607 by New Mexico
Governor, Don Pedro de Peralta) to the Palace of Governors
which served as residence to 100 Spanish, Mexican, and
American governors since 1610.
Santa Fe is a center for arts, culture, and cuisine.
The third largest art market in the U.S., Santa Fe boasts
nearly 300 art galleries and dealers and more than a dozen
museums. The culinary arts scene in this high desert
metropolis simply sizzles with more than 200 restaurants
offering a variety of cuisines (including Spanish, New
Mexican, Contemporary, Asian, Italian, and Indian) prepared by
award-winning chefs.
Explore the enchanting
history and cultural diversity of this charming Southwestern
city. Savor innovative New Mexican cuisine at three
restaurants featured by Food Network star, Rachel Ray, on her
Tasty Travels and $40 a Day shows.
